I was thinking about doing a live Youtube Demo with the FTB and a couple different pad/drums/modules set ups.....

anyone care to join in or just critique....? (as I am NOT an expert by a long shot)

I'm not saying anything, but I'm just sayin...

Thank you Mario.
So the answer to question #1 is YES.

How about question #2 ?  Instead of the FTB output Breakout Cable, can the FTB 1/4" output jacks be used instead, to patch into module trigger ins?

Hi
YES.  We have ordered special cables so that one wire connects the HybriKIT or jamKAT to the FTB, and then on the back, one cable from the FTB with a break out cable can connect to any drum module with trigger ins.

The HybriKIT / jamKAT can also connect directly to the DITI... with this it becomes the new generation drumKAT with of course MIDI out and tons of power and potential

I haven't been here in quite a while, so was looking at all the new impressive AM products.
The "drumKat Hybrid" appears to be the newest version of drumKat, but lacking any electronics.

I have a few questions about how you can connect the dKat Hybrid to an FTB box.

1) Can this be done?
DrumKat Hybrid--> [HD15--cable--HD15] --> FTB --> HD15 to 6 stereo 1/4 male plugs BREAKOUT CABLE --> INPUTS of drum module/TMI

2) Same as above, but how about just using the 1/4" OUTPUT jacks of the FTB itself, instead of the special HD15 to 6 stereo male plug BREAKOUT CABLE ?
In other words:
DrumKat Hybrid -->[HD15--cable--HD15]--> FTB --> FTB's 1/4" OUTPUT jacks--> patch cords--> INPUTS of drum module/TMI ?

Thanks

Thanks for the advice, Tim. I?ll give ?Cakewalk Sonar is now Cakewalk by BandLab = FREE?
a try.

To answer your questions, I was using ?pro tools first? which is the free but with limitations version.  Thanks for the $$$ info!

My frustration was a combination of my DAW & midi inexperience And the steep learning curve.  It took me quite a while to get it to record my Vibekat, then the playback: just noise with the app freezing...Ctrl Alt Delete!   But never mind that.  Will download Cakewalk soon!
Thanks,
Steve

What?s the frustrating part?

I have heard (though cannot say for sure) that there is a slightly steep learning curve that comes with Pro Tools...and I think that rumor along with the fact that it?s expensive has been why I stayed away from it...

Is PRo Tools really free?

I found this:
Pro Tools software monthly subscription (one-month license subscription with updates and support) starts at $29.99/month
Pro Tools software annual upgrade plan (12 months of updates and support) starts at $199
Pro Tools software annual subscription (12-month license subscription with updates and support) starts at $299
Perpetual licenses for Pro Tools software (includes 12 months of updates and support) start at $899
If we're reading this right, it looks like you can have Pro Tools for $29.99 a month (though you'll lose access if you stop paying), pay $299 (which actually means $24.92 per month) and get it for a year (though, again, you'll lose access if you don't continue to pay after that), or buy it outright with a year's worth of support for $899 (you'll then have to renew at $199 per year if you want continued support).

My experience has been mostly with Sonar & Ableton.

Cakewalk Sonar is now Cakewalk by BandLab = FREE

Ableton Live (my recommendation) has:
Live 10 Intro = $69

Reaper (I have used also) is also a viable option = $60

Again, what are frustrated with specifically?...and we?ll see if we can help  :)

MalletKAT / DAW recommendations WindowsPC & VibKat ??

Hi all.  I?m trying to get my Vibekat to work with a DAW on my PC.   Frustrated!   I downloaded ProTools First (Free) & got a midi to usb cable.  Will this SW even work with VK / MK? Would a different DAW be better?   Basically I want to play the VK and have the midi data recorded, and then play it back.  Thanks!  Steve

FTB and FSR Trigger Pads / Re: 10" HybriPad Bounces off the Drum
« Last post by gmbydmit2 on May 10, 2020, 07:06:37 PM »
I am sorry for the delay in the reply....

I WOULD NOT ALTER the pad itself.
BUT, I would suggest small tiny pieces of velcro between the rim and the edge of the pad....

Also....Are you a hard hitting drummer?
if so, loosen the acoustic head under the pad to reduce the bounce....??

FTB and FSR Trigger Pads / 10" HybriPad Bounces off the Drum
« Last post by 510man on April 27, 2020, 01:17:31 AM »
Anybody have a fix for the 10" HybriPad bouncing off the drum? This is only an issue with the 10". I believe it's a weight issue. I setup the toms with a minimal to moderate tilt so the angle shouldn't be a problem. The 12", 13" 14" and 16" do not do this.

Wondering if I can remove the rubber backing and add a thin metal disk to give it more weight? Or perhaps a 1/2" ring around the outer edge so the center flies over the acoustic drum head? There would be less bounce out near the bearing edge. Open to any ideas.
