MalletKAT / Re: Different loudness
« Last post by pljones on August 07, 2022, 04:24:46 PM »
Have you tested this with velocity tracking turned off?

Have you logged MIDI output to see what the response is like (i.e. with velocity tracking enabled again)?

Have you tested with different instruments?  If so, which?

MalletKAT / Different loudness
« Last post by Dr. Vibes on August 07, 2022, 09:59:57 AM »
I have a malletkat express. I have this situation, the lower C and higher C sounds louder compare to the middle octave. How can I fix that? Thanks

FTB and FSR Trigger Pads / OnHeads with the drumKAT?
« Last post by soundtextures on February 19, 2021, 01:18:41 PM »
Hey everyone,
I was wondering if you can hook up an OnHead to the drumKAT.
My ekick works great and any other trigger - and I was wondering about the onheads? Nothing happens ;(

Best,
Tom

Not a hard hitter. Loosening the head kind of defeats the purpose of a quick and simple A to E conversion. That may help but not the solution I'm looking for.

I'm circling back on this thread because the fix I've found is a Slingerland style rim. You have to work the HybriPad under this style rim. The end result is perfection. The HybriPad cannot move.

Hope it helps someone else.

FTB and FSR Trigger Pads / Dual Zone Snare?
« Last post by 510man on October 05, 2020, 01:51:12 AM »
Love the HybriPads. Feel and tracking are way better than mesh. That said, has any thought been given to a dual zone snare made from a HybriPad to fill the void created by ATV closing in the US? Their snares are common with the Mimic. An FSR snare with cross stick and rimshot switching would be ideal with the Mimic. FTB powering or an internal battery on a slide tray so it's easy to replace would be great. Battery would need a power switch, which seems to be acceptable now. The ATV HH has a wall wart and a power switch and no one is screaming.

FTB and FSR Trigger Pads / Hybrid Pad Connector Issues
« Last post by 510man on October 05, 2020, 01:45:53 AM »
My HybriPads will occasionally drop volume to about 30% of what they should be. It appears to be a connector issue. Unplugging and plugging the jack several times may or may not fix it. Cleaning the jacks may or may not fix it. The challenge is the problem can happen in the middle of playing a song on a gig and take a couple seconds or several minutes to fix. And then there's no way to know how long until it happens again. Somes times several days and other times a few minutes.

Anybody else having this issue? Have you been able to resolve it?

MalletKAT / Re: Cakewalk changing sounds (setups)

some things i noticed (through my haze and bewilderment) is like with most midi devices ESPECIALLY the Alternate Mode ones, MK-KS, DK-KS, Diti, etc

1. the second that connection is made, your KAT device is already sending CC #'s, PC #'s, etc, etc...
to anything in that signal path and some things could change or react weirdly

2. (somewhat related) WHENEVER I power on anything using the Kurzweil Sound chip, i suggest scrolling upon one kit or two and then back down again before performing, just to make sure things are 'straight' (did you ever turn it on and the screen shows one thing and the sounds coming out are completely different like a 'default' piano patch...??)

3. YES, YAY DUDE! ...you figured it out and yeah it sounds like the USB out from the KETRON is causing some sorta MIDI Loop / redundancy kinda thing...

i think you should start from scratch again.
either use:

1.the Ketron to your PC/MAC with only the USB Connection (and only use the MalletKat Midi out to Ketron Midi In only)

OR...what I would probably prefer, because I am old and like making things more difficult  ;D

2. MIDI out of MalletKat/Vibekat to the MIDI IN of the KETRON, then MIDi OUT from the KETRON to your midi IN of your interface, AND the 2 audio outs from the KETRON to two separate Audio ins on your interface.
(yes now you'll have to open up at least two or three tracks in Sonar or Ableton or whatever...record midi to one MIDI track, and one audio track records from KETRON right audio out and another audio track for the KETRON left audio out)

with midi recorded, and you're happy with the performance, then disconnect the MalletKat or Vibekat, and do midi out from Sonar to midi in of the Ketron (or any external or internal sound source) and voila....whatever trips your trigger

let's see how you are coming along when you can....i.e....audio or video that you might share with the forum...
 :D :)

IMHO...

I wouldn't personally mess with anything internally on the malletKat.
If you opened up and saw nothing obviously disconnected or broken, then I'd box it up and send it to Mario and the gang at Alternate Mode for repair

Tim
(my 2 cents)
