DITI - jamKAT-HybriKIT / Re: User Kits in DITI?
« Last post by gmbydmit on September 16, 2019, 12:46:54 AM »
......there has been such a lack of anything happening here on the forum, you caught me sleepin on the job.... ;)

But, the DITI I.M.O..is a universal midi interface...so, 'USER KITS' or 'FACTORY KITS' or whatever you name them to be....
Mario did great creating a bunch of kits that work great with the gigkat (or anything THAT has that Kurzweil card in it, TK, MK,etc)...But IMO, That's just a starting point, and any of those kits can be dumped, written over, edited, whatever...

....i.e......I took the COWBELLS kit which is specifically for use with the GigKat...and It was already a very basic kit, so with a few minor steps (yep, I did it manually on the Diti, with the edit screens, step by step, then reviewed/double checked with the editor)SO,  I made sure it was a 'scratch pad kit' - all on the same midi channel, all one sound simultaneously, all the same gate time, no Linking pads, etc, etc, etc...

And now with some slight modifications to that Scratch Pad Kit and I have made kits to work with Toontrack Latin Perc, NI Abbey Road, NI Battery, and even Korg Gadget for my IPad...

I'm rolling up my sleeves again
  ::)

If you can use it, it's attached (hopefully)

DITI - jamKAT-HybriKIT / Re: Pad types for ddrum piezo triggers?
« Last post by gmbydmit on September 14, 2019, 09:05:51 AM »
again, sorry for the lack of activity here.

I think plugging in the triggers and experimenting with settings is the best way to start.
Did you 'TRAIN' the DITI once you got it to recognize the ddrum triggers...

I know it's been a while since your post, but have you figured this dilemma out?

DITI - jamKAT-HybriKIT / Re: Hardware synths for JamKAT+DITI
« Last post by gmbydmit on September 14, 2019, 08:59:53 AM »
Is there a simple list somewhere of hardware drum modules that already have JamKAT+DITI kits set up? The kit names in the DITI aren?t always very descriptive.

I?m now in the market for a hardware synth to play with this incredible interface. Any tips?

Related, where can I purchase a gigKAT? It seems there are lots of preset kits for gigKAT, but they?re not available on the AM website (and none on Reverb right now).

that's the thing about the DITI, you don't have to use what Mario or AM has pre-loaded in there..
As far as I know, there isn't any sound source that won't work with it...
I use my laptop with Ableton Live, or Toontrack Solo (with Superior Drummer) or Native Instruments Kontakt and I am sure that no matter what sound source you find (or have found) that we (or AM) can help you get er going...

just trying to help if I can

DITI - jamKAT-HybriKIT / Re: DITI Screens Don't Match the Manual or Videos
« Last post by gmbydmit on September 14, 2019, 08:51:34 AM »
I'm trying to do the initial setup on my DITI. I've watched the videos and read the front end of the manual to get started. I stopped reading since my DITI doesn't boot to the default screen shown in the instructions. There are no sound module choices. It reads "JAMKAT/gigKA 01". Scrolling up and down does not display sound module choices. None of the buttons take me to a modules selection like is shown in the video and described in the manual.

When you first turn on your DITI....what version and date are shown on the screen?

I had some similar issues when setting up the DITI, specifically regarding inconsistencies between the manual and what I was seeing in the DITI.

Unfortunately, this message board does not seem very active. And I don't know a better venue for asking basic questions.

I recommend finding a Windows machine and using the Visual Editor, which you can download from the DITI Downloads Page, to edit your kits. I've found editing via the tiny DITI screen to be time consuming, inefficient, and frustrating.

I've also found all the verbiage in the manual about "no need to train your triggers because we have a database" to be misleading at best. Eg, my ddrum piezo triggers are very common but there are no profiles. The manual says that if the database doesn't have a trigger profile, then you should use a standard piezo setting. But I couldn't for the life of me find any "standard piezo" setting among the options. Maybe you've had better luck since posting.

As much as I love the musical performance possibilities behind the DITI and JamKAT, it seems AM's support is subpar or at least informal. My day job is in research, so I'm used to working with tools that have little-to-no support. But if I didn't enjoy the parts about having to figure things out on my own, then DITI/JamKAT would not be worth the price (for me).

Also, you can probably safely ignore anything in the manual about the gigKAT (or "gigKA" in the DITI screen), because AM doesn't make those anymore. It's very strange (to me) that the DITI comes preloaded with preset kits for a module that you can no longer purchase.

DITI - jamKAT-HybriKIT / DITI Screens Don't Match the Manual or Videos

Scrolling up and down does not display sound module choices. None of the buttons take me to a modules selection like is shown in the video and described in the manual.

Questions:
1) How do I get to the screens shown in the manual and videos so I can select a module? I'm starting with DTX900 since I suspect it's in the pick list already.
2) It appears I'm not suppose to plug triggers into the DITI before powering on and it senses teh plugging in and moves to edit mode accordingly. I didn't see that in the instructions. I plugged a FatPeadl (piezo) into the Kick input. I moved to 1A but my choice of pads were limited to two choices and pressing enter to select "trigger" resulted in no change.

Clearly, I'm doing something wrong.  :-)  Thanks for any help.

check out the MalletKat specs on the Alternate Mode main Website...

this shows the MalletKat 8 is 15 lbs....

https://www.alternatemode.com/malletkat/instruments/malletkat-8-pro/

once you get in there and start looking around you'll probably find out more info on what you're looking for...

DITI - jamKAT-HybriKIT / Roland CY-R15 and the DITI
« Last post by soundtextures on August 04, 2019, 09:29:58 AM »
Hi there,
I just got a Roland CR-Y15 three zone Cymbal Pad and was trying to get it working with my DITI and the Addictive Drums VST. But---no luck ;(
I?ve read the manual several times and watched Mario?s Video on exactly the same setup which worked - but alas - I can get the pad to dampen the sound, but that?s it. Everytime I hit the bell or the bow, both sounds are played - I can not the the crash to sound.

What I?ve done so far:
9A - Pad Type Roland CR-Y Bell (from the website) - slot 1 = Bell sound, slot 4 = chokeNT
9B - Switch - slot 1 = bell sound , slot 2 = Ride Tip, slot 3 = dampened, slot 4 = chokeNT and just for the sake of it slot 5 = dampened
10 A - Pad Type Roland CR- Bow - slot 1 =Tip, slot 4 = chokeNT
10 B - Switch - slot 1 = tip, slot 2 = crash , slot 3 = dampened, slot 4 = chokeNT and so forth and so on...

any idea why I always have both sounds?

anyone ...plz

Thomas
