DITI - jamKAT-HybriKIT / HybriKit

Can anyone tell me how many of the DITI triggers are taken up by the HybriKit?

MalletKAT / Re: Any thoughts on the new Pearl/McMillian mallet controller?

One thing I notice is that the Smart Fabric looks to be slower than FSR - they quote a latency "under 3ms" (so over 2ms) whereas the TrapKAT (which I can find the number for) quotes "about 1ms" (so well under 2ms).  Not particularly noticeable, admittedly.  Some of the KMI kit looks interesting (e.g. the new keyboard with position sensing on the keys, as well as press and release pressures).  Certainly looks like a technology to keep an eye on.

MalletKAT / Re: MalletKat sending untriggered "note on"

FSR is a Force Sensing Resistor.   A FSR will vary its resistance depending on how much pressure is being applied.  (i.e. how strong you hit the pad)  This gets translated into a discrete value that is sent to the sound source via MIDI, which then converts the value into the actual signal (volume).  I'm sure someone with more technical details will correct me, but that's the basics of it.

If you haven't see it already, the video helpdesk has some cool internal videos as to how the MK is put together and items can be replaced.

Hi,

I just bought a new Yamaha DTX530 drumset and I was wondering if anyone managed to connect an ipod to the module?

Thanks

I'm sorry -- what is "FSR"? (I don't find that in the manual.)
Thanks.

Maybe run through and train the FSR?  It could have become more sensitive due to environmental changes, like temperature, maybe.

MalletKAT / MalletKat sending untriggered "note on"
« Last post by frankinthevillags on October 03, 2017, 01:41:22 PM »
In a rehearsal today, I was stunned when my MalletKat suddenly played and sustained a note, even though I was nowhere near the keypads. It happened 3 times and it was the same note each time (I think -- I was too startled to really pay attention to the pitch!). The first 2 times, the note cut off by itself after a few seconds. The 3rd time, it stopped only when I touched the instrument case. (After than, I shut it down.)

Does anyone know what causes this --- and more important, how to prevent it from happening again?

Many thanks!

MalletKAT / Changing Octave Settings Creating Volume Issue
« Last post by drumno5 on September 27, 2017, 09:09:42 PM »
I have been experimenting with raising the octave setting (e.g. change octave 07 to 08) on the various vibe and marimba setups on my Malletkat. When I do this, however, the volume of the sound diminishes as I play upwards through the top octave. if I raise the pitch scale two octaves (e.g. octave 07 to 09) the volume continues to diminish, eventually disappearing completely. I have confirmed this behavior for user kits 1 through 15, and on a random sampling of other voices. A few questions:
  • Is this behavior normal, has anyone else experienced it?
  • Can I compensate by using the pad training, or octave training feature?
  • Are pad training/octave training adjustments global, or specific to the kit on the instrument when they are set?
My instrument is an Express with the KS internal sound engine. Thanks in advance...
